Profiling

Sheldon Berman and the school board has passed the new boundary lines. Berman says, “I think we will have a more balanced set of schools across the district." The balance is with the lower income, education levels and higher minority population of students. It allows students to attend any of the schools within the cluster in which they live, as long as there is room and the schools meet the district's diversity guidelines. The district also expanded its definition of diversity to include not only race, but also education and income levels. Is this not called racial-profiling? If students are moved to another school or can’t attend their neighborhood school because of income level or color of their skin, then the JCPS are teaching racial-profiling for 12 years of the student’s life.
