Manual 48 Seneca 35


Manual wins another close one and it's first at "New" Maxwell Field.

With 12 seconds left in the game and Seneca threatening deep in Manual territory, Travis Carroll picked off Demarcus Smith's pass at the goal line and raced for a 99 yard TD on the last play of the game. It was the second week in a row that Carroll ended a late threat.

Demarcus Smith got his first of five TD passes on the second play of the game. A 90 yarder to Jordan Jacobs. Joey Harness threw for three TD's and 274 yards and ran for one. His first was on Manual's first play from scrimmage. An 87 yard pass to Cole Mosser to tie the game 7-7.

The game was tied again 14-14 when Smith found Aaron Nance again for his second TD and a 21-14 first quarter lead. Nance caught four TD's for the night. The Redhawks stretched their lead to 28-14 in the second quarter. DJ Hawk scored his TD of the game to cut the lead to 28-21 at the half.

A 30 yard pass from Harness to Derek Woodmore was the only score of the third quarter which left the game tied 28-28. Woodmore gave Manual it's first lead 35-28 with a 32 yard TD pass from Harness. With the game tied again 35-35, Harness put the Crimsons on top for good 42-35 with a 2 yard sneak with less than 2 minutes left in the game.
